Appeals – To obtain a transcript when filing an appeal with the Eleventh Circuit or Federal Circuit, you must first order the transcript by contacting the court reporter directly or by submitting a request for a digitally recorded hearing as indicated above.

In addition, the "Transcript Information Form" must be filed with this court and the appellate court within 14 days of filing the Notice of Appeal.

Transcript Policy
A transcript is restricted for 90 days after the court reporter files it in CM/ECF. During that period, electronic access is limited to court staff, public terminals, and attorneys or parties of record who have purchased the transcript. Members of the public (non-parties) who purchase the transcript within the 90-day restriction period will not have remote electronic access during the restriction period.

Notice of Intent to Redact - Each party or attorney of record is required to review the transcript and request redaction consistent with Fed. R. Civ. P. 5.2 and Fed. R. Crim. P. 49.1. Each party wishing to redact information from the transcript must, file a "Notice of Intent to Request Redaction" within 7 calendar days of the filing of the transcript.

Redaction Request – A "Motion to Redact Transcript" must then be filed within 21 calendar days of the filing of the transcript. The motion must include the information to be redacted by page, line number, and description. For example, "Social Security Number on page 12, line 9, to read xxx-xx-1234."

Redacted Transcript – The court reporter is required to file the redacted transcript within 31 days from the filing of the original transcript.

End of 90-day restriction period – At the end of the 90-day restriction period, if no requests for redaction have been filed, the access restriction will be removed from the original transcript. If a redacted transcript has been filed, the original transcript will remain restricted but the redacted transcript will be available.

PACER Fees PACER fees apply to transcripts. Charges are not capped at 30-pages, like they are for other court documents, and will accrue for the entire transcript. The PACER user is charged each time the transcript is viewed, even when they are the purchasing party and have been granted remote electronic access. There is no "free look" for transcripts.
