Membership in the Court's Bar

To appear before the court, a lawyer must be admitted to the court's bar or obtain an order allowing him or her to specially appear in a case.

Local Rule 2.01 governs membership. Local Rule 2.02 governs special admission.

For admission to the court's bar, a lawyer must:

  1. be a member in good standing of The Florida Bar;

  2. complete and submit a registration form;

  3. pay $196;

  4. provide either certificates from two members in good standing of the court's bar attesting that you have good moral character and are otherwise competent and eligible for general admission to practice, signed and dated within 90 days of submission of the registration form, or a certificate of good standing from either the United States District Court for the Northern District of Florida or the United States District Court for the Southern District of Florida, dated within 90 days of submission of the registration form; and

  5. sign up for and attend an admissions ceremony.

If you do not reside in the district, you may be admitted by telephone unless you are seeking admission through the Tampa Division, live in the district, and have never been admitted before. For admission by telephone, contact the clerk's office in the division where you practice.
