Biography:
Judge Jones was appointed a United States Magistrate Judge for the Middle District of Florida on May 1, 2000. Judge Jones received his B.A. in 1975 from Boston University, his J.D. in 1981 from the University of Miami School of Law and his LL.M degree in International Law from New York University School of Law in 1983 with highest honors. Following graduation from New York University Judge Jones practiced civil trial law in Florida for seventeen years, first as a partner at a large multi service firm in Miami, Florida and then as a named partner in a small litigation firm. Prior to his appointment in the Middle District of Florida Judge Jones served as a United States Magistrate Judge (part-time) in the Northern District of Florida. He is a master of the D.R. Smith American Inn of Court and is currently a board member of the Gainesville Area Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.
