Marcia Morales Howard was sworn in as a United States District Judge for the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida, on February 21, 2007. Prior to her appointment, Judge Howard served as a United States Magistrate Judge in the Jacksonville Division of the Middle District of Florida, beginning on June 2, 2003. Judge Howard received her Bachelor of Science degree from Vanderbilt University in 1987 and her Juris Doctor, with honors, in 1990 from the University of Florida, College of Law, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif. She also served as the Symposium Editor for the Florida Law Review.

Following graduation, Judge Howard returned home to Jacksonville, Florida where she practiced as a civil litigator concentrating in Labor and Employment Law. While in private practice, Judge Howard was a member of the Florida Bar, the American Bar Association, and the National Association of Railroad Trial Counsel. She has been admitted to practice before the United States Supreme Court, the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States District Courts for the Middle and Northern Districts of Florida.

Judge Howard’s community involvement has included serving on the boards of the Jacksonville Transportation Authority, the Jacksonville Human Rights Commission, the National Conference for Community and Justice, OneJax, the Girl Scouts of Gateway Council, TheatreWorks and the American Cancer Society’s Duval County Unit Advisory Board. She is also a graduate of Leadership Jacksonville.
